Reality Fracture Teasers
Rosewater’s Duelist-style hints, the Planeswalker’s Guide, and what is still not a spoiled card.
Official previews for Reality Fracture do not start in earnest until the debut stream on September 8, 2026 (10 a.m. PT / 1 p.m. ET). Until then, the public file is the First Look cluster on Scryfall plus two documents every player should read once: Mark Rosewater’s Reality Fracture teaser (Tumblr, August 25, 2026) and the Planeswalker’s Guide to Reality Fracture (DailyMTG, August 28). Story episode one is dated August 31. This page tracks hints that are not yet cards. When a hint becomes a Scryfall name, it moves to the spoiler tracker and, if it is a keyword, to the mechanics guide.
Do not brew a 75 because a teaser sounded like Black Lotus. Do not skip release dates because you are busy decoding type lines. Teasers are a hobby. Street date is still October 2, 2026.
Design promises (not spoiled cards)
Rosewater listed things you can expect, with partial information on purpose:
- A mechanic that creates a token type no other mechanic has ever created.
- An instant with “A deck can have any number of cards named CARDNAME.”
- A cycle of color hosers for ally colors — the same allied pairs Hexhaven uses.
- A new wish: a card that puts a card from outside the game into your hand.
- Hydra, Kraken, and Phoenix each printed in a single color they have never used.
- Some colorwashed spells, in the spirit of a Planar Chaos bonus sheet.
- A new restriction for whether a cycle of dual lands enters tapped.
- A prepared spell that is a red version of a popular blue instant (“the color it should have been in”).
- A new creature with 2/W2/U2/B2/R2/G in its mana cost.
- A card that creates a colorless artifact token named Lotus with “tap, Sacrifice this token: Add three mana of any one color.”
The Lotus line is the one Polygon, Wargamer, and every comment section repeated. It is a token. It is not a Standard-legal Black Lotus. Format notes belong on mechanics and format legality.
Rules text that will show up
These are fragments, not names:
- “As long as you’ve scried or surveilled this turn,” — Fatehold bait. Prudent Fateseer already cares about scry and surveil; more is coming.
- “that many 5/5 red Dragon creature tokens with flying are created instead.”
- “If that permanent was a legendary enchantment,”
- “Target planeswalker you control deals damage equal to its loyalty.”
- “where X is the number of cards that were put into target player’s graveyard from their library this turn.”
- “Exile all but the bottom card of each opponent’s library.”
- “Whenever an opponent casts a spell with mana value 2 or less,”
- “You may cast this card as long as it remains exiled.”
- “This creature gets +2/+0 for every seven cards in your graveyard.”
- “Planeswalkers you control aren’t put into their owner’s graveyards for having 0 loyalty.”
The last two walker lines matter for a set that is printing new Jace, Chandra, Garruk, and Ajani cards. Superfriends tables should watch the zero-loyalty clause; Standard players should wait for the rarity. None of this is legal yet. None of this has a collector number on this wiki until Scryfall does.
Type lines and names (character bingo)
Creature types Rosewater listed: Siren Bard, Chimera Horror, Gremlin Elemental, Bird Fish Illusion, Boar Construct, Mouse Warlock, Homunculus Scout, Ogre Crab Wizard, Elder Sphinx, Werewolf Noble.
Community reads that have not been denied and should still be treated as reads, not oracle:
- Elder Sphinxes replace Strixhaven’s Elder Dragons as college founders — already aligned with the Hexhaven Guide.
- Mouse Warlock is likely a witchy Mabel.
- Homunculus Scout is likely Fblthp.
- Werewolf Noble is likely a Tovolar echo.
- Yoshimaru, Scrappy Stray is the line that made the internet sad on purpose.
Printed names in the teaser: Curse-Marred Demon (Rune-Scarred Demon echo), Loyal Tutor, Lyra, Tolarian Archangel, Omnipresence, Rescue Girl, First Responder (Massacre Girl as a paramedic — Wargamer’s August 28 headline), Rise of the Deathbringer, Seasoned Cryomancer (the blue-to-red “should have been red” joke is Seasoned Pyromancer in some coverage; the teaser text says Cryomancer), Tomik, Izzet Sparkmage, Winter, Team Player.
If a streamer shows a card with one of these names before September 8, wait for the gallery. This tracker will not paste a leaked mana cost.
Story beats that are not card text
The Planeswalker’s Guide (August 28) is the setting bible: the Echoverse is a reproduction of every plane without Phyrexians, Eldrazi, or Bolas; Hexhaven is the battlemage rewrite of Strixhaven; the Theorist sits in the tower and hates the word Echoverse. Story starts August 31 on DailyMTG and the Magic Story Podcast. Tam is named as a protégé in the official recap video embedded on this page. Chandra is named in First Look coverage as the planeswalker who will not go quietly — that write-up is Chandra. Liliana’s spark-loss is why her pair is creatures; that write-up is Liliana.
Use story to understand why a card is white or blue. Do not use story to predict rarity. Jace’s face card is already public on his page.
How this wiki will promote a teaser to a spoiler
A teaser becomes a spoiler when at least one of these is true: Scryfall has ingested the card, the official Card Image Gallery shows it, or Wizards posts oracle text on DailyMTG. Rumor screenshots and “my friend on the preview team” do not count. The spoilers page keeps the 21-card public list. The early cards page grades that list. This page keeps the leftover riddles.
If you only have time for one bookmark through September 8, bookmark spoilers, not teasers. If you enjoy bingo, stay here, then go open a prerelease tab so the hobby still gets you to a store. Products and SKUs are unchanged by a Lotus token: see products.
Debut stream: September 8. Prerelease: September 25–October 1. Arena and Magic Online: September 29. Tabletop: October 2. That calendar does not move because a Homunculus Scout exists in a bullet list.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Is the Lotus token the same as Black Lotus?
No. A card creates a Lotus artifact token that taps and sacrifices for three mana of one color. Black Lotus is not being added to Standard.
When do teasers stop mattering?
When the September 8 debut and the Card Image Gallery replace them with actual cards. Follow spoilers from that morning.
Is Rescue Girl a real card name?
It is a name on Rosewater’s teaser list. It is not on Scryfall yet. Do not buy a proxy labeled as oracle.
Where are the keywords explained?
Prepared, Exhaust, and the Lotus token are on the mechanics guide. Hexhaven schools are on Hexhaven.
