The Theorist is Jace Beleren after the Meditation Realm. He is the villain of Reality Fracture, the face of Hexhaven, and the mythic planeswalker on FRA 43. Official tagline: Jace’s solution is everyone’s problem.

How he got here

Jace spent years as the Multiverse’s reluctant fixer: Guildpact, Gatewatch, living weapon against Bolas and Phyrexia. After the Invasion, the thought that would not leave was what if those monsters never existed. In the Meditation Realm the original plan failed and Jace was unmade. Pieces lingered. As he rebuilt himself from the realm’s essence, the surviving drive was not to repair the Multiverse but to author a cleaner one.

He constructed the Echoverse from that realm: a reproduction of every plane with Phyrexians, Eldrazi, and Nicol Bolas excised. He does not call it the Echoverse. The fragment of him that still tells the truth does. That fragment is imprisoned in a memory of the Guildpact chamber and is the narrator of the Planeswalker’s Guide.

The Theorist carved away the parts of himself that believed he could not do it, then the parts that believed he should not. What remains, the Guide says, is an amalgamation of his worst traits without the empathy that made him a leader. He erases memories and puppeteers enemies without regard for free will. He has become the kind of tutor he once hated.

What he wants in Reality Fracture

The Echoverse is unstable. Deleting pivotal history leaves paradoxes. The Theorist believes the copy can be stabilized by laying it onto the bones of the real Multiverse, using the collision that created Arcavios as a model. That is why he sits on Echoverse Arcavios, in a sanctum at the top of a tower that used to be Hexhaven’s bell tower, sipping a leyline confluence through mage-rings.

He rarely leaves. He projects illusions. Birds wear his hood. Cadets drill until their thoughts are quiet. The campus architecture is his memories of Vryn leaking into the walls. The Eradia around the tower is fallout from the same magic.

The story that begins August 31, 2026 is the confrontation: former allies, especially Chandra, against that plan. We will not spoil episode text that has not been published. We will say the mechanical set is built to show both realities in every pack — see echoed pairs.

The card

The Theorist, Jace Beleren is a blue mythic planeswalker. Exact loyalty abilities belong on Gatherer and Scryfall once you sleeve him; this wiki will not paste unverified oracle text. Treat him as the control finisher of the set and as the Commander face of Multiverse Reforged. Booster Fun includes braintwister and Japan Showcase versions of him. He is not an echoed pair with a second Jace in the same slot — he is the author of the pairs.

Why Limited players still care

You will open him. You will decide whether your blue deck can protect a walker. You will hear flavor arguments at the table. The relevant mechanical neighbor cards are Theorix signposts and any spell that scries or mills, not the entire story bible. If you are in Stingerquill, he is a splash, not a reason to abandon red.

For the rest of the cast — the people he mirrored — use Chandra and the planeswalkers roundup. For the school that sits closest to his sanctum, Theorix, stay on Hexhaven. Jace is the reason the set exists; he is not the reason every Sealed deck should be blue.
