Preorder Checklist

Use this as a literal list. Uncheck nothing until it is done. SKU advice: buyer guide. Date grid: release dates. Store locator: stores.

1. Decide your play pattern

  • I Limited in paper (Sealed/Draft).
  • I play Commander.
  • I collect treatments.
  • I only play Arena / Magic Online.
  • I am buying gifts.

If you checked none of these, do not preorder yet. Read getting started.

2. Book events before product

  • Prerelease ticket for a date between September 25 and October 1 at a WPN store. At-Home kits are retired; a box on the couch is not prerelease.
  • Optional: Commander Party window one or two (October 9–15 / October 23–29).
  • Optional: Reality Echoes if you want store Pick-Two (October 16–November 5).
  • Optional: Spotlight: Fracture only if you actually travel to Hartford or Beijing.

3. Build a non-overlapping cart

Pick one Play-adjacent SKU:

  • Play Booster box, or
  • Bundle (nine Play Boosters plus lands and a box), or
  • Draft Night (four-player Pick-Two kit).

Then add only what your pattern needs:

  • Multiverse Reforged if you play Commander.
  • Collector box or Secret Lair Bundle if you collect, not both unless the budget is real.
  • Foundations Commander Deck only as a teaching gift.
  • Sleeves, a playmat, and lands if your store does not provide them.

Do not add a Prerelease Pack to a cart unless your store sells kits at the door that way; most events include the kit in the ticket.

4. Digital, if you play it

  • Note September 29 for Arena and Magic Online.
  • Reserve wildcards until the spoiler tracker is less empty.
  • Do not spend paper-Collector money to “practice” digital Limited.

5. Confirm legality and language

  • I understand FRA is Standard and FRC is not. Format legality.
  • I picked a print language the SKU actually exists in (EN, FR, DE, IT, JA, ES).
  • I am not chasing serialized Recollector in Play Boosters.

6. Week-of checklist

  • Sleeves and deck box in the bag.
  • Store address and round time.
  • Skim prerelease or how to draft the night before.
  • Skim Hexhaven color pairs so you can sort a pool. Hexhaven.

7. What not to wait for

Do not wait for a complete 300-card tier list to book prerelease. Do not wait for the Multiverse Reforged full list to buy Play Boosters. Do not wait for At-Home kits to return; they are retired for this set.

If a retailer slips a street date, trust your LGS over a marketplace listing. Official product page: official links.

When every box above is checked, you are done with tools. Go play, then argue with the early card rankings. The checklist is finished at the door of the store, not at the end of spoiler season.

If you are ordering for a playgroup, duplicate step 3 per person rather than stacking three Draft Nights “just in case.” Extra sealed product is how leftover Collector odds appear in a Limited budget. Write names on the cart. Confirm each person still wants paper after Arena’s September 29 queues go live — some groups will drop the tabletop order once they have drafted digitally, and that is a cheaper outcome than three unopened boxes in a closet.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

Can I preorder an at-home prerelease kit?

No. At-Home Prerelease is retired with Reality Fracture. Book an in-store event.

Should I buy Draft Night and a booster box?

Usually no. They overlap Play Boosters. Pick one Play-adjacent SKU. See the buyer guide.

When should Arena players preorder paper?

Only if they also want paper events. Digital queues open September 29 without a paper cart.

Where do I find a store?

On the stores and events page, which points at the Wizards locator.
